Technology to support candidates

The Independent Platform utilises readily accessible technology to facilitate the engagement of independent MP candidates with the electorate.
For every electoral constituency, a dedicated election page is hosted on the Independent Platform. This page serves as a central hub where voters can access pertinent information. This includes a brief video introducing the local independent candidates affiliated with the Independent Platform, accompanied by concise biographical details.

Scheduled online live sessions titled “Meet Your Independent Candidate” will be prominently displayed on the election page. These sessions offer voters the opportunity to virtually interact with the independent candidates in real-time. Users can click to join the live sessions and pose their inquiries directly to the candidates. Importantly, these sessions are recorded and archived for subsequent viewing, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for voters who may not be able to attend the live events.

Independent candidates can employ various other technological tools within the IndependenT Platform to enhance their interaction with the electorate:

  1. Social Media Engagement: Utilize platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to connect with voters, share campaign updates, and respond to inquiries or concerns in real-time.
  2. Email Newsletters: Send regular newsletters to supporters and constituents, highlighting campaign milestones, upcoming events, and key policy positions. Encourage subscribers to engage by providing avenues for feedback and participation.
  3. Online Surveys and Polls: Create online surveys or polls to gather feedback from constituents on important issues, policy preferences, and community priorities. Use this data to inform campaign strategies and policy decisions.
  4. Virtual Volunteer Opportunities: Offer virtual volunteer opportunities for supporters who want to contribute to the campaign remotely. Tasks may include phone banking, social media outreach, data entry, or content creation.
  5. Crowdsourcing Platforms: Utilize crowdsourcing platforms to gather input and ideas from the community on specific policy proposals or local initiatives. This fosters a sense of inclusivity and collaboration in the campaign process.
  6. Podcasts and Webinars: Host podcasts or webinars on relevant topics, featuring guest speakers or subject matter experts. This allows candidates to showcase their expertise, engage with voters in a conversational format, and reach a broader audience.
  7. Data Analytics: Leverage data analytics tools to analyze voter demographicspreferences, and engagement metrics. This data-driven approach can help tailor campaign messaging, target outreach efforts more effectively, and identify areas for improvement.
