I am an Independent, Liberal-Minded Conservative Soul with a Socialist Heart, tinged with a Green Outlook.
I am running to be your MP for Erewash.
I am from an Engineering and Management background and have always been interested in finding solutions to problems in a logical manner. that are fair, reasonable and sustainable.
I am committed to making sure the people of Erewash and the East Midlands are represented in the best way possible, and that their voices are heard in Westminster, a vote for me is a vote for you and your future.
My ambition is to serve you, not to become a junior minister or minister in government, which takes my focus away from you.
If you vote for a candidate from a party, they will be subject to the whip and will always be party first, where I will always put you first.
“My first pledge and I will publish monthly the recipients is to donate 25% of my MP salary throughout the life of the parliament to local charities and good causes, putting back locally from day one.”
I want to see the community enhanced, I want people to feel valued and respected.
I want to see your efforts rewarded.
When you have worked hard and paid taxes, you do not want the items you have worked hard for ruined. It is not right that your homes are flooded due to a lack of investment by water companies or that potholes damage your car due to a lack of investment in your road.
But health is more important than property, and you have paid for an NHS that is free at the point of use.
It should be there for you at the point of your need; GP wait times have to be addressed, first to ensure that people get the help they need when they need it, but also to reduce the individual’s pain and the worry delays cause and to reduce the strain on Hospital Emergency Departments.
I believe in the community of Erewash; I believe it has a future and that by working together, we can realise that potential.
I believe every person has value, and deserves the best outcome in life.
I believe there are more good people in this world than bad.
The sooner humanity realises that we all, regardless of gender, colour, creed, sexuality, religion, breathe one common air under one common canopy – for we are all equal, all making a single journey from birth to death, and use that knowledge to help each other the better
The ONLY label that matters is we are all Human Beings and we NEED to be Human Kind to each other.
NHS Funding: Ensuring adequate funding for local NHS services, reducing waiting times, and maintaining the quality of care are critical concerns. Voters want guarantees that local hospitals and GP services will be sufficiently supported.
School Funding: Ensuring that local schools receive fair funding to provide high-quality education, including resources for both academic and extracurricular activities. We need to bring about better utilisation of resources, We need to understand and to explore fully why, despite policy, the gap for disadvantaged pupils hasn’t closed and in fact, has widened over the last decade and learn from that so the next decade of policy creates real equity.
Local Employment Opportunities: Peoples are keen on seeing more job creation initiatives, support for local businesses, and investment in new industries to boost the local economy.
Political Representation: Voters are interested in strong, effective representation in Parliament, ensuring that local interests are adequately voiced and defended. This is best served by an approachable local independent candidate who will listen to the constituents and represent them and not a political party
Affordable Housing: There is a strong demand for more affordable housing to support young families, key workers, and first-time buyers.
Public Transport: Enhancing public transport options, including more reliable bus and train services, is important for reducing congestion and providing better connectivity.
Crime Reduction: Voters are concerned about reducing crime rates, including anti-social behaviour, drug-related issues, and burglary.
Support for Vulnerable Groups: Ensuring that social services are well-funded and capable of supporting vulnerable populations, including the elderly, disabled, and low-income families. The NHS/Social Care levy will be ring fenced for NHS/Social care, will be a big step forward to a long term, sensible spending programme.
Living Costs: Addressing rising living costs, including utility bills, groceries, and fuel prices, is a significant concern for many residents.
“We have worked with Nigel for over a decade. Like Nigel I feel the mainstream parties no longer represent us. I’m up for real change and believe that Nigel can deliver it. He’s got my support.”
“The people of Bexhill & Battle are fortunate in having Nigel Jacklin on the ballot for our parliamentary representative. Nigel is astutely aware of the harm being pushed on society by Net Zero policies, which are neither scientific nor ethical. It is vital to preserve our natural environment, but making a bogeyman carbon dioxide (a gas of life) is not the way to do it.”
“I have known and worked with Nigel for over 30 years. Most recently he made an important contribution to our Net Zero conference, where he spoke on the challenges facing farmers as a result of Global Warming and Government Regulation. He is a skilled market researcher and statistician who truly believes in representing people!”
“We both worked with Nigel when we were at College. The experience we gained helped us with our decisions about our university education and further studies. His World of Work project - undertaken with the Financial Times and ESCC - helped us understand the jobs that exist and how to stand out in the professional environment. We’re grateful for the guidance we received from Nigel and wish him all the best with his election campaign.”
